Elisabeth Hennessy, a professor from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has recently reached out to FurnCIRCLE, to gather materials for a forthcoming book on sustainability in the furniture sector.
Dr. Hennessy, specialized in environmental history, is conducting research about the rise of so-called "fast furniture", and contemporarily chronicling current initiatives designed to make the industry more sustainable; her online research led her to FurnCIRCLE and its outputs and progress.
The FurnCIRCLE-Experts Validation Workshop brought together 20 circular economy experts to refine key resources aimed at supporting the furniture sector’s transition towards circularity. The event focused on validating the industry guide, self-assessment tool, and KSC Needs Report, ensuring they effectively address the sector’s knowledge, skills, and competency (KSC) gaps. Experts also provided feedback on policy recommendations designed to enhance workforce skills and regulatory alignment.
We are very glad to announce that in the framework of the FurnCIRCLE project, co-funded by the European Union, we have published the Preliminary edition of the Handbook for facilitating the circular economy transition in the EU furniture industry - A guide for companies and stakeholders for enhancing their competitiveness and jobs attractiveness. FurnCIRCLE was the star of FederlegnoArredo's corporate communication during the latest edition of Ecomondo, the leading trade fair on sustainability and the circular economy for industry, which took place in Rimini (Italy) from 4 to 8 November 2024.
