The Final Conference of the FurnCIRCLE project took place on 12 June 2025 in Udine, Italy, in the framework of the EFIC Furniture Days 2025 — an event that brought together representatives from across the European furniture industry to exchange on market trends, sustainability priorities, and geopolitical challenges facing the sector.

The conference marked the culmination of two years of work dedicated to supporting the circular transition of the furniture industry through the development of practical tools and knowledge. During the session, the FurnCIRCLE project partners presented the main outcomes of the project to an engaged audience:

  • Blueprint for Take-Back Schemes: A comprehensive framework to support companies in setting up and improving take-back schemes, contributing to circular business models.

  • FurnCIRCLE Handbook: A practical guide compiling key insights, good practices, and recommendations to foster circularity in the furniture value chain.

  • Online Self-Assessment Tool: An interactive tool allowing companies —particularly SMEs— to assess their current level of circularity and identify areas for improvement.

As part of the Final Conference, participants also had the opportunity to learn about the outcomes of the FLIER project, which developed a new curriculum and an online training course for Circular Furniture Designers. The project aims to equip designers and the wider furniture sector with the skills needed to navigate the evolving landscape of the circular economy and comply with upcoming European environmental legislation. The presentation highlighted the strong synergies between FurnCIRCLE and FLIER, and how both projects offer complementary support for the sector’s transition toward more sustainable and resilient business models.

Held in conjunction with the EFIC Furniture Days, the conference provided a timely opportunity to showcase these resources and engage with industry stakeholders on how to integrate circularity and innovation into business practices. The FurnCIRCLE and FLIER tools will be instrumental in helping companies—especially SMEs—align with upcoming policy developments, such as the implementation of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
